A Historical Emporium Exclusive!

Whether by the feather or in the flesh, he was never at a loss for colorful commentary. Dressed in our Penworth Vest in green, the insightful chap always collected a coterie of lady lovelies anxious to hear his ideas…and admire his attire.

Our vest is cut from a bolt of richly-appointed floral scroll fabric and is inspired in overall design by an acquisition currently housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art dating to 1843. Generously sized lapels, a curved bottom hem and double-breasted styling with covered buttons create the buzz and banter of a bygone era. Additional details include two inset pockets at the waist, a full lining and a black acetate back with adjuster buckle.

100% polyester microfiber. Imported. Machine wash cold, delicate cycle, line dry or dry clean. Available in men’s sizes S – 3X.

See our Penworth Collection for additional colors and matching Ascots.

The 1880's
Purchased another vest. This one was the green penworth Paisley design. I am retired and a professional tour guide in St. Augustine, Florida for fun. I portray the great Henry Flagler which is the father of tourism in my state. I've purchased many items from Historical Emporium and they fit the bill for my portrayal perfectly. Everything I've purchased has fit and the quality is terrific.

Stylish
My son (15 year old) loves the vest. It was used for spirit week in high school and the theme was the 80s so he chose the 1880s...He also has the shirt and the tie as pictured. He looked dapper!

The fabric is nice and made fairly well. I had a problem with some of the buttons being loose but that was easily fixed by my wife. I originally ordered a 3XL but ended up returning and exchanging it for a 2XL instead. I'm 6ft and weigh 275lbs.

Only one negative
I've received a few items from you guys now and must say, everything about your company is deeply satisfactory. The quality of the products is beyond reproach, speed of delivery is astounding seeing as I live in Tasmania, and the prices are far lower than the quality would suggest. The only thing that's killing about this waistcoat is that I have to wait five months to be able to wear it at my wedding.... seriously, it's killing me! I'll be wearing it plenty afterwards!

Love it !
I was thrilled when my vest arrived. I'm always a little leary of buying clothing online, however the quality of this item has made me a believer. I will be buying all my victorian era needs from Gent's Emporium from now on. Well done !!!

Worth the Penworth.
Bold and striking, this means business. It is as though you ripped the wallpaper off your favourite saloon and decided to wear it. It is eye catching and well made.

So close
I was eager to get this waistcoat in this style and ordered the large as the medium was not available at the time. As much as I'd have liked to have kept it, it was simply too large. However, I was able to send it back and was given a full refund my GE. If not for it's size I would have happily worn it.

Great vest, but could be even better
This is an exceptionally sharp vest, and I have gotten many compliments on it. Also, I was quite pleased to find that it *IS* long enough to wear with modern pants! Despite the posted sizing note that back length is ~22", the back seam on my medium measures 23.5", and the curved bottom hem of the front hangs down about 2.5" below that when it's on its hanger. I'm quite glad of the extra length, and have found that I can even wear it with my modern Levi's. So why did I dock it a star? Well, there are a few things I would tweak on the design: 1) The back, as stated in the item description, is made of acetate. I would have preferred it to be more of the awesome front fabric (or at least a heavier satin). 2) The pockets are rather shallow, and there is room to have made them a bit deeper. 3) I would have preferred slightly larger buttons. It's still an awesome vest, it's just got room for improvement.
