i ended up with the commander vest in crimson because my first and second choice of color must be the same as everyone else. black and walnut were both sold out in my size. you guys must be doing something right. your products are obviously popular because i'm waiting on other things to be restocked in my size. XL .. keep the popular sizes well stocked and keep on with a good thing. THANK YOU

This vest looks amazing, Very well made of a sturdy denim-like material. The Dark Burgundy colour goes well with a white shirt. The sizing is accurate, which means if you are not sure order the next larger size.

I ordered the smallest size, as I'm very skinny and stuff like this is hard for me to get a good fit in, and it fits pretty much perfectly, wish they offered more of their vests/coats in a 35 chest. I was expecting a costume quality piece, but when I opened it a tried it on I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The canvas feels like it'll last a decade or two, almost like how a carhart jacket feels. Worth the price for sure. I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but if you undo the top 2 buttons you can turn down the lapel and it gives the look of a traditional vest, so you can wear it in different fashions. Not to mention its very comfy

As a new customer I held off reviewing for a more complete experience. After a couple months, I could not be happier! Since I enjoy vests I plan to buy as many as I can.

Vest is a little tight but otherwise very appropriate for Steampunk Carnival Ball.

This is the first time I've ordered from Historical Emporium. I've perused the items for some time, but never had the courage to order. Well, I was not disappointed! The vest is exceptionally well made and exactly what I was looking for. The next time I need something, I won't hesitate to order again!

Recently I had the opportunity to attend an event called The Steampunk Masquerade Promenade and I was decked out in clothes from Steampunk Emporium. This was the first time I'd worn the Commander Vest, it fit fantastic, and was comfortable all night long. It's quality clothing that's made to last. My entire outfit consisted of the following from (Historical) Steampunk Emporium: Commander Vest Baily Trousers Mini Gauntlet, Brown Black Pearl Ornate Pocket Watch Brown Leather Buckle Suspenders Pin, Gears and Wings Additionally, I wore a black button down shirt where I'd replaced the buttons with "copper gear" buttons, and a steam punk top hat I'd acquired a year ago randomly. Anyway, I got compliments everywhere I turned all night. Men and women alike complimented the style and the look. I think that a big part of this outfit looking so good is the quality of the clothes. Unlike anything you'd pick up in a costume shop, this stuff is made to last. I've actually owned the Baily Trousers for a couple of years now... and I've not been nice to them. They still look great, fit amazing, and have held their color after repeated washing. The suspenders look great and fit well thanks to the elastic on the back. The pocket watch I like so much I've started wearing on a regular basis with my jeans, clipped to a belt loop (finally an opportunity to use that 5th pocket!!!). The Brown Guantlet fit my wrist better than I would imagine as it was listed for women......

The only thing to mention is that the vest is a bit tight. Every other vest I've gotten here an "M" is very comfortable, looks good, and has just a bit of room. This one though is snug. Not uncomfortable, not a 'problem', just keep it in mind. If I were to have gotten a Large I'd undoubtedly have to have it altered to fit correctly.

I wanted to write a review about the Commander Vest because from reading the other reviews I had concern about the sizing with some saying that it runs small. I usually wear a 35 or 36 which is right on the border of a small. I ordered a small and medium with the idea I would keep the one which fits and return the other. I opened the small first and it fit perfectly so no need to even try the medium. It is a fitted cut though through the waist which I like very much. It is a very nice looking vest with the aged brass buttons giving it a sharp look. It is a great part of my steampunk outfit and I am very happy with the purchase.
