Perk up your style in our Dark Brown Callahan Frock Coat, an essential layer in the 19th century gentleman’s wardrobe. Dark as steaming coffee, this men’s coat pours out practicality with a serving of dashing good looks that will take you from the parlor to the poker table.
Before the shorter, boxy jacket of the “sack” suit (still being worn today), the frock coat was the standard silhouette for men. Longer and seamed at the waist, our vintage-look coat features fabric covered buttons, a notched lapel and intricate detailing on the back. Necessities can be kept at hand in the interior breast pocket. However, should you encounter an unsavory character in some back alley or less-traveled road, your valuables will stay hidden in two cleverly tucked-away tail pockets.
Constructed from 70% polyester / 18% wool / 12% rayon with a full lining. Imported. Dry Clean Only. Available in sizes 38–52.
Our coats are made with typical American sizing, meaning your chest measurement (in inches) is the size you should choose.
To measure your chest: Raise your arms slightly and measure just under your arms. Be sure to cross over the shoulder blades and the fullest part of the chest. If your belly measures larger than your chest, use your belly measurement for coat size.
Longs: If indicated in the selection list (e.g. 46L,) long sizes may also be available. Longs are approximately 2" longer in the back and sleeves.

I purchased this frock coat to go with an outfit I was putting together for the Edwardian Ball in Los Angeles about a month ago.This is the second purchase I have made from Historical Emporium, as I had purchased about a year ago some pants for another costume, which were of excellent quality.This coat was as handsome as expected; the only small detail I was disappointed with was the fact that it has polyester, which both does not breathe well, and is not perfectly 'period' (unlike the pants, which are cotton).All that said, it fit as well as I expected it to, came as quickly as the Historical Emporium said it would, and was ultimately what I wanted for my outfit (and will use for many outfits and occasions to come). Excellent price for such quality. Fabric is slightly less subdued than pictured, but that could be caused by my display. Don't let the absence of front pockets discourage you, this coat comes with storage space aplenty. One inside breast pocket opens vertically while the other opens horizontally. The hidden pockets in the tails take some practice to access easily, but they are indeed out of sight. The back is gathered at the tails, giving a very fit appearance to the wearer. Demands compliments from passers-by.
