The bathing costume is made of polyester, lending it a distinctly drab modernity. It's impractical, hot, icky-feeling on the skin.

Good, hard to find product. I'm a bit disappointed there is no inner lining in the trunks, so I'm not sure what garment to use around my genitals. If I am to trust the design's authenticity, I suppose the lack of an inner lining only underscores bathing suit innovations since the era of this style suit. Also, with no draw string to hold up the trunks, there is a danger toward a moment of the every immodesty that I am trying to protect by purchasing this product.

For the money, this is a good product and I will and have recommended it to friends. It is not completely historically accurate, but it will pass. Do watch the sizing, however. We bought my husband a large, based on his chest size, only to find that both the shirt and shorts were way too large. I'm also not too fond of the fabric chosen, but understand that cotton knit would probably soak up too much water when used. Aside from the sizing issue, I'm happy with this item.
