The lighterweight choice for daywear during the mid to late 1800's. The Cutaway Coat, also known as a Morning or Swallowtail Coat, vied with the Frock for popularity. With it's curved front panel, this elegant choice is far less bulky than the Frock and excellent for all day comfort and style. This style is often seen paired with pinstriped pants. Our modern version of the popular coat is made of 100% wool. The upper torso is fully lined with 100% acetate, while the tails are self lined for a finished look. Imported.
Our coats are made with typical American sizing, meaning your chest measurement (in inches) is the size you should choose.
To measure your chest: Raise your arms slightly and measure just under your arms. Be sure to cross over the shoulder blades and the fullest part of the chest. If your belly measures larger than your chest, use your belly measurement for coat size.
Longs: If indicated in the selection list (e.g. 46L,) long sizes may also be available. Longs are approximately 2" longer in the back and sleeves.

This is a great coat. Nice quality wool with only minor adjustment needed to the sleeve length. Fits well through the shoulders and hangs perfectly, open or closed.

This jacket is very attractive, comfortable and sturdy. My particular one arrived with the lining of the right sleeve sewn in twisted at the cuff.Not a big deal, and I will just take it to a tailor to fix.

While the cutaway coat is for daytime, few people know that in these modern times. Thus you can get away wearing this anytime. Looks excellent with a top hat. It is true to size. Buy according to your (properly fitted) sport jackets or blazers. I have long arms and was gratified to find the 50L absolutely perfect. Delightful coat. I completely recommend it.
