Deluxe Felt Derby - Brown [001215]

Americans call it a derby, after the Earl of Derby who helped popularize it. But, Englishmen know it as a bowler as it was first introduced in the early-1850's in England and produced by the Bowler Brothers Company. It crossed the pond to America in the 1860's and remained popular well past the turn of the century.

Our best quality derby is made of brown wool felt, lined, and just perfect for the period look.

USA-made, with removable decorative feather and a 2" brim. Available in sizes M-XL, in several colors.

Oversized: This item is considered oversized for shipping purposes, and may incur a surcharge if shipped internationally.

Very good prices on all your items. Fit and finish is great. Doesn't look like a cheesy stage prop. Made in USA to boot.

A hat man's Hat Nov 14, 2011

I wear hats, have since I was a young boy. My Grandfather was from the American generation that wore hats, and he passed the love of a good hat to me. I had a Bowler/Derby years ago, but it disappeared, so I had been looking. My taste goes towards fur felt only because a Fedora I still have is close to twenty years old; the fur felt just doesn't wear out. But the cost of fur felt is just getting high. I read all the reviews and placed my order. I was shocked! The quality of this Bowler is very high. I've rarely encountered a wool felt that is lined, let alone blocked so well. Wearing it I garner the nicest comments on style, fit, and color. Living in Oregon this Bowler is going to experience some weather, and so far it has performed...
Good, not great. Nov 9, 2011

The Bowler hat is made well, but it is definately made for costume wear and not daily wear. It is much more stiff than I imagined, so I will have to figure out how to relax the fit. The size was correct, but the shape was more round than the oblong head shape, so I am working on reshaping it. For the price, it's a good buy, and I would easily tell folks from where it was purchased. Plus the promptness of the purchase was outstanding.

The quality of this Derby is phenomenal! Beautiful rich brown felt: very sturdy. Don't be fooled by cheap costume hats elsewhere---this is a real hat, not a prop. The stitching, the lining, the band are all very detailed and fine. Accurate sizing, too. The only problem I had was in shipping, which is the USPS's fault. I had to return the first one because the dome had been crushed; the second box looked worse but the hat was fine. I've ordered the Coachman hat without any packaging problem, so I don't blame the H.E. Treat yourself and order this hat!

I got this for a Steampunk outfit and it's great! The look and quality are fantastic. It's a little tight, but I think the next size up would have been too big. I'll probably try stretching it a bit and then it'll be perfect.
Great quality hat! Oct 31, 2011

This derby hat has a good fit and excellent quality. I wanted a derby for my Steampunk outfit and didn't want to get a cheap costume derby. The feather on the hat was a nice touch also.

This hat is really high quality. You can't tell from the picture but it has a little feather in the decorative band, which really adds to the authenticity. It's a bit large, but that is my head's fault.
A nice fit,I look forward to wering my brand... Jan 18, 2011
