White Satin Cravat

White Satin Cravat [000939]

Beau Brummell popularized this style of "snowy white" cravat and it is said that he would discard dozens of cravats each morning before he tied one to his satisfaction. Thankfully we no longer require that level of precision with our neckwear, however his good taste never goes out of style.

Check out our Gallery Pages to see how real Victorian Gentlemen wore the cravat. Suitable for day or evening wear. Approximately 58" long, 2.5" wide and handmade for Gentleman's Emporium in White Satin. Also available in Black Cotton.

I like the cravat. I do whish however, that you sold a style of cravat that did not have such large ends. I normally tie my cravats into a kind of bow tie. With the large ends it could not be made uniform. It is rather difficult to find a tie it yourself white cravat with the regular 19th century sutlers, so this was the closest I came to it. I thank you for that. If you ever decide to sell straight edged, or even straight pointed cravats (like the one's you see on photo's of Abraham Lincoln) I will be your first buyer!
Snowy white it is not. Jul 17, 2011

This is a nice cravat and it ties up beautifully--- but snowy white it is not. Compared to a pure white dress shirt the cravat looks a little yellow. I would call it slightly off white. It is well made and I do like it. I will order a black one next order. I wear it as part of my costume as a guide on the Haunting Tales- Lexington's Ghost Tour. www.Facebook.com/slburner. My entire costume comes from The Historical Emporium. I get lots of compliments from my guest and I belive it help my tips really dressing the part.
