Highland Pants [000639]

These versatile dress pants are similar to those worn by bankers and merchants during the late 1800's. The historic styling is complimented by the Polyester/Wool fabric which makes them comfortable year round. Matching frock coat and town coat, sack coat and highland vest are also available.

Comes with all the standard Wahmaker amenities: 2 front, side opening pockets, 2 button closing back pockets, an adjustable waist and suspender buttons. 60% wool, 40% polyester, unlined and unhemmed with a 36" inseam. Straight boot-cut bottom. Dry clean only. Available in sizes 30-48 in black only. Sizes below 30 may be available, call to check stock and pricing.

Please note that these pants sit approximately 1" higher on the body than modern pants do. Therefore, most people need to order one size up from their customary size.

Don't forget suspenders!

Sizing Notes

As you can see in our photos, our old fashioned trousers sit higher on the body than modern pants do.

For best fit, measure your torso (in inches) just below your belly button, and select this size of trousers.

In many cases, this will be one or more size above your customary pants size.

Inseam

Our trousers come with a 36 inch inseam. If you need them shorter, you will need to have them tailored locally to your desired fit.

Good quality pants Dec 30, 2011

I generally wear size 37 or 38 pants but measuring my waist according to the instructions came up with size 43. This have proven too big. The pants themselves are sturdily constructed and when I get the right size will probably become my favoured work pants..
These look great! Nov 28, 2011

Yes, it is polyester, but it looks good. I ordered a 34, a size larger than the streetwear my boyfriend buys. The hem was a bit difficult to get angled properly, but it worked eventually. Good item for the price and completed his look.

Nicely made but contains polyester and sizing... Oct 23, 2011

These are nicely made with great attention to details. However they would be nicer still if they were made purely of natural fibers (wool, cotton). Sizing information on web site needs clarification. When I followed the store's recommendation the pants were too large, requiring an expensive exchange.

I have purchased many articles of clothing and accessories from the Historical Emporium for a variety of Steampunk and Neo-Victorian outfit needs. Everything is always received as it is described, and I can vouch for the quality. My new pants (part of an entire outfit) will lat me years if not a lifetime of enjoyment and satisfaction. You dont get what you pay for however, you are getting more.

I LIKE THE PANTS VERY MUCH. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, WHEN I ORDERED THEM. I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THEY WERE LIKE A COSTUME,OR SOMETHING. BUT NO, THEY ARE MADE TO HIGH STANDARDS, AND FIT, AND LOOK PERFECT. I LIKE THE HIGH RISE WAIST.

Other reviewers are not joking when they say buy a size up! I have a 37" waist and bought a 38. It was too small. These pants are designed to hit very high, over the navel. Buy the next bigger size than you think.
It fits! Dec 17, 2010

My weight fluctuates with the season and I'm stuck between 46 and 50 inches so it was a great moment to find the 48s fit perfectly. Finally something to go with my Highland Frock coat.Something not mentioned before, these DO have a watch pocket.

So glad the advice was to buy a size larger than my waist size, as they fit fine. Slightly inconvenient that the pants come in a universal length instead of individual leg sizes. You have to be handy with a needle of know a good seamstress. But apart from those niggling considerations, a good product.

These pants are excellent quality, and the suggestion in other reviews to size up one size in the waist seemed spot on to me. One thing that was not mentioned, however, is the one-size inseam; unless you are 6'6", these pants will almost certainly need to be trimmed and hemmed. Anticipate this and you'll appreciate this product more.
