I'd say this is a 2.5 star on-the-fence review. As the other reviews said, it has a boxy cut. But more than that, the material and the arm holes really bothered me. The wool feels more like what an overcoat would use rather than a suit. Of course, this material is more robust so it would be more "appropriate for Civil-war era and old west reenactors." But if you're expecting a material like what the 100% Victorian cutaway coat has, save yourself the trouble and don't buy it. (And it's textured. Naturally picks up dust/hair.) If you have a large arm diameter, it's a great coat! I do not... so it's awkward. Any arm movement is hampered and lifts the entire side, making the boxiness look even worse. Taking in the sides would still leave the relative mobility problem. It would just cost too much to fix up the arm holes and sides. All I'm saying is that my kind of medium-to-slender body shape wouldn't work well. But if you're more boxy and needs something durable, it could be a great coat. It's your call or gamble.

Nice Coat. Fit to size. However, it has a very boxy look which I didn't like. Sort of like you took a plastic garbage bag and cut holes in it for your head and arms. So I took it to a very good taylor I know who does bespoke tayloring (made from scratch) of mens suits. He tapered in the waist a good bit and resized the sleeves so just a little bit of shirt sleeve shows. Now it looks a lot better. Like all of the clothing I have purchased from Historical Emporium it is well made. However, if you are in shape with an athletic build like I am, you will have to have their clothing taylored if you want it to fit better around the waist.

This is truly a great quality coat and is a perfect "period look" garment. It is great quality wool and just feels great the moment you put it on. You can dress it up or dress it down...but it will be a great quality staple for a Victorian impression.

Ordered a size 38 - boyfriend is usually a 39, so I was afraid it might be too tight. The shoulders fit him well. The coat looks great on him. A 40 would be too large in the shoulders, so this ended up being perfect.

I'm size 36. The 100% Wool Frock Coat is beautiful, light, and smooth. Shoulders are a little wide, and the sleeves had to be slightly shortened, but otherwise it's a perfect coat.

My husband loves his coat. He had one before and the cleaners messed it up so they replaced it. He loves it so much he had to have another one. People compliment him all the time, how nice a coat it is when he wear it, and they want to know where he got it from.

I am very fond of this jacket! It is a very good quality. The only thing I disliked was the silver buttons which made it more of a Wild West era jacket as opposed to a Civil War era jacket. Still gets 5 stars as buttons can be interchanged easily.

I can't believe the speed at which the coat arrived in Australia. It is very warm, great quality and stylish enough to wear to work each day as a teacher. Thank you

Just what I was looking for, the cloth could be a bit heavier for my liking, but that's a minor quibble.
